Overview and Analysis of The Blog Assignment

Introduction:

Welcome to the final blog post of this semester! In this post, I will share my thoughts on this blog assignment. For those who don't know, I was tasked with creating a blog and uploading two posts every other week throughout the semester for my business writing class. I will be talking about what I found interesting, what I liked and disliked, and what I learned about my writing from the blog assignment. And I will discuss how businesses can utilize this practice to benefit both their customers and employees.

My Thoughts About the Blog Assignment:

I really enjoyed the blog assignments. There was quite a bit of writing homework in this class, and I always looked forward to the blogs. I appreciated how we were given the ability to choose the topics for our blogs each week. The professor also gave suggestions for topic ideas each week in case we were having trouble coming up with a new topic. I always tried to relate my topics to something relevant to my experience in college, career outlook, class objectives, things I've learned about my degree, etc. Selecting topics that I was passionate about allowed me to enjoy writing and put emotion into my blogs. One thing I would like to see added to this class is the opportunity to see our fellow classmates' blogs. I think it would be beneficial to see other people's blogs with their own structure and topic selections.

Business Practicality:

I have learned how this blog assignment can teach communication skills that are essential to businesses. Writing blogs can increase employee skills that are used in everyday business situations, including clear communication, summarizing key points, critical thinking, creative thinking, audience awareness, and more. Businesses use blog posts to help document their progress, engage with each other, and help them display their ideas. I think regular writing assignments like this have encouraged me to reflect on my past work to see how far I've come, and that is something businesses could utilize as well. Encouraging employees to reflect on their work and engage with co-workers' posts can even help build a comfortable, engaging work culture. Also, if businesses give employees the freedom to select topics, they are passionate about that relate to the company, the employees' trust in the company could grow.

Blogs are also great ways for customers to learn more about a specific business and the products or services it offers. Blogs are a great way for businesses to explain what they are selling, answer customer questions, and highlight their company values. Especially for small businesses, blogs build customer trust and strengthen their brand image. Blogs are also a great way for businesses to advertise digitally. I have purchased many items over the past couple of years from blog posts that have identified one of my needs and given me great information about their products.

Summary:

Looking back, I have truly enjoyed this assignment. I have learned that my writing skills are continuing to improve and that I can use my writing skills to help grow my opportunities after college. This is likely the last writing class I will take at NDSU, and it has been very valuable. This blog assignment has shown me how important vlogging can be for both personal and professional use. Blogging can be used for education, communication, and brand building. I see now why so many businesses rely on blogging as a great way to digitally advertise.

That wraps up this semester's blog post assignment. Thank you for joining me!
